Unicompartmental Knee ArthroplastyClinical

Replacement of only the damaged knee compartment rather than the whole joint.

UKA resurfaces a single tibiofemoral compartment, usually medial, while preserving the cruciate ligaments and the uninvolved compartments. It is less invasive than total knee arthroplasty but has historically carried a higher revision rate, particularly when used as a conversion procedure after a failed high tibial osteotomy.
